Randy Kaplan is newly signed to the new Universal Music kids' label myKaZoo. His latest CD, 'Mr. Diddie Wah Diddie' is the second release from myKaZoo. It was two years in the making and is now available wherever music is sold. It features child-friendly versions of country blues and ragtime numbers from the 1920's, '30s and '40s. This CD has 24 songs, of which are 17 songs that were first performed by legendary blues musicians Robert Johnson, Blind Blake, Blind Boy Fuller, Jimmie Rodgers, Sonny Boy Williamson, Bessie Smith, Muddy Waters, Mance Lipscomb, Pink Anderson, Mississippi John Hurt, Hambone Willie Newbern, the Reverend Gary Davis, Blind Willie Johnson, Dave Van Ronk, Jim Jackson and Charlie Patton. Randy reworked the lyrics for the songs making them appropriate for children under 12 without losing the grit and humor of the originals. 

There is a 20 page colorfully illustrated liner notes that will teach kids about their great American musical heritage. My older kids really enjoyed reading through the liner notes. This CD is one the whole family can enjoy. We listen to this and dance around, laughing and having a good time. I really like that this has songs that the children like so much it was hard to pick a favorite. There aren't a lot of CDs that my older children (ages 14 & 11) like to listen to as much as my younger children (ages 3 & 1). This is one of them! This is another great addition to our music collection. Our family really enjoys it!
